The Safdar Janam Talks on Culture and Politics


This year, to observe 20 years of Safdar's death, as well as 35 years of our work, Janam will organize a series of talks, one every month, each focusing on the complex and critical interconnections between culture and politics. The talks will be followed by a discussion on the issues thrown up.  The fourth of these is:


"Music and Gender"

A disciple of the late Smt. Naina Devi, vidya Rao is a leading exponent of thumri-dadra singing. She has lectured in several universities, and she has published extensively on the subject. She is a publisher by profession.


Directions: Come to Gol Dak Khana (not Gol Market!), take Pandit Pant Marg, and look out for the first right turn. This is Bishambhar Das Marg. We are in 4 B.D. Marg, which is the second bungalow on the left with Hannan Mollah's name on it.
