Sadanand Menon (critic and cultural commentator, Chennai) and Pravin
Kannanur (artist, Chennai), moderated by Joyoti Roy (Janam and National
Culture Fund, New Delhi).
Date and time: 25 July 2012, 6.30 p.m.
The
discussion will be preceded by a signing ceremony wherein Pravin
Kannanur and his team of artists will sign the Public Art Project they
created for the outside walls of Studio Safdar and May Day Bookstore and
Café, Shadi Khampur. Studio Safdar is a new space set up by Jana Natya
Manch to foster and encourage art among the people. It is named after
Safdar Hashmi (1954-1989), one of Janam's founder members, who had sown
the seeds of the dream that led to the creation of Studio Safdar. The
theatre space is adjacent to the May Day Bookstore and Cafe, an
initiative of LeftWord Books.
